BRIDGE OF HOPE MISSION FIELDS BECOME A PARTNER BREAKTHROUGH

Midwest

The floods and tornados that batter North America’s Midwest have caused massive amounts of damage to local communities. Bridge of Hope has always been ready to respond.

For the second time in 11 years in Fargo, North Dakota, the Red River swelled to a record 41 feet—23 feet above the flood stage. City officials estimated that up to 100,000 residents evacuated and nearly 30,000 were left homeless. Local government was only equipped to provide food and shelter for 30,000 evacuees for one week. However, Bridge of Hope forged through the flood waters by which 40,000 lbs of ready-to-eat meals, pallets of drinking water and other supplies were delivered to thousands.

Mountain View, Arkansas was literally ripped to shreds as a 185-mph tornado blazed a path of destruction 122-miles long. Most ‘long track’ tornadoes stay on the ground between 30 and 50 miles. This storm escalated to an EF4 and caused the deaths of 13 people. BOH delivered 40,000 lbs of aid, helping to weave hope back into the fabric of Arkansans’ view of their future.

Heavy winter snow and rain formed an environment conducive to massive flooding in Iowa. The Mississippi River overran its banks by 12 feet, causing its Governor to declare 80% of the states’ counties a disaster area. In response to the flood, BOH delivered 40,000 pounds of vitamin-fortified water.
