Our goal was to provide 2 million pounds of relief to our Gulf Coast neighbors.
But thanks to the generosity of Partners and friends, like you, Bridge of Hope provided
2.7 millions pounds of desperately need clean water, food and emergency relief to
victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita throughout the Gulf coast.

One month after hurricane Katrina, on September 24, hurricane Rita followed crippling
the coastlines of Texas and Louisiana with blinding rain, fierce winds and unrelenting
storm surges.
We were all stretched thin after pouring out our best gifts to help the victims
of Katrina. However, you did not turn your backs. In the midst of this great need,
the Church responded to more than one million of our fellow Americans that were
homeless, displaced and left with nothing.

Hurricane Katrina made landfall, August 29, 2005, 15 miles east of New Orleans and
began a path of rampaging destruction causing floods all along the coast. By August
31, 2005, eighty percent of the city was flooded and over 1 million people displaced.
Only days after Hurricane Katrina struck Bridge of Hope was ahead of other major
relief organizations providing emergency relief at the heart of the devastation.
Bridge of Hope dispatched TWO MILLION POUNDS of clean drinking water, ice, life-saving
food and medical supplies, diapers for little babies and more to the hurricane-ravaged
Gulf Coast.
