Since 1986 in northern Uganda, a notorious false prophet called Joseph Kony has led a blood-thirsty band of rebels in terrorizing the Acholi people.
The rebels call themselves the “Lord’s Resistance Army” (LRA). They attack Acholi villages, kill adults and abduct children.
The children are forced to become child soldiers, to commit atrocities against their own families and even kill family members. Young girls are raped and given to grown fighters as wives and sex slaves.
Reports now indicate that in the course of 21 years of terrorism, the LRA has abducted, terrorized and tortured up to 65,000 innocent victims.
As many as 70 percent of children in northern Uganda have seen someone killed or had a family member abducted or killed. Pandemic fear has resulted in 80 percent of the population living in squalid camps for the internally displaced. Recent reports estimate are that up to 1,000 men, women and children are dying in these disease-infested camps every week!!!
