El Salvador

An earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale resulted in 800 dead and thousands more injured or missing in the southern region of El Salvador. Over 900 hospitals and 1300 schools were affected or destroyed. A fourth of all the roads in the country were rendered unusable. More than one million people were left homeless.

Bridge of Hope provided 4000 ‘Homes of Hope’ that sheltered 20,000 left homeless by the devastation. These immediate yet temporary homes met one of the most basic human needs for shelter while their homes and villages were rebuilt. Shaken El Salvadorians felt the tangible touch of the loving hand of God through the sweeping support that our partners provide.
