A 9.2 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Indonesia created a tsunami 100 feet high. As the second largest recorded earthquake ever, the tsunami stuck 12 countries, and triggered earthquakes as far away as Alaska. In Indonesia, nearly 170,000 lives were lost, more than 200,000 homes were damaged or destroyed, and over 565,000 people were internally displaced. Its violent waves pounded the earth for almost 10 minutes, turning white, sandy beaches into places of utter devastation.

Bridge of Hope responded quickly in faith knowing that partners and friends would be there to support on-site ground relief. With 100,000 pounds of food, medical supplies and clean water delivered to the Indonesian people, the love of Christ was introduced to their lives in a practical way. The clean drinking water helped keep disease from claiming subsequent lives, the medical supplies helped fend off infection and food eased otherwise crippling hunger pangs.

Would you help Bridge of Hope continue to respond immediately to sudden crisis around the world? Without compassionate support from friends and partners, our efforts would be impossible.

One hundred thousand pounds of food, medical supplies and clean water provide nourishment and care for victims of 100-foot high tsunami.

Prayer Focus Points:

An awareness of the Gospel message as people continue to rebuild their lives.

Continued supply of food and medical supplies to those still ravaged by the tsunami’s destruction.

Peace and comfort to come to those still dealing with the loss of loved ones in this disaster.
