Friend
If you’ve attended World Harvest Church for any length of time, you know not to expect church as usual – more like “church unusual.” As I’ve said many times, the atmosphere of expectancy is the breeding ground of miracles. Last Sunday, many of you saw that truth in action, as miracles abounded throughout the tabernacle simply because your praise created the conditions in which they can occur. A deaf ear opened! A wheelchair became unnecessary! We can never hold what happened in our tabernacle as common. In fact, we should expect nothing less! That’s why I’ve called this “Expectation Week.” Great things are happening here because of the atmosphere of expectancy. Why would it not continue?
If you were at the service, I hope you’ve told people about what you saw, as I asked you to. Take to your Twitter, your Facebook, your email and your phone to share what God did among us – and invite everyone one you know to this Sunday’s service. If you weren’t able to be with us, go here to view the service and do everything you can to catch up before Sunday morning! And, remember “The Harv Worship Fest” starting at 7 p.m. Sunday night. It will be an incredible night of praise, back by popular demand.
Here are this week’s announcements – please save or print this e-mail and refer to it throughout the week.
Today, Wednesday, May 30 – God moved mightily last week as I began new teaching series, “Repo: Seize Your Stuff”. The second installment of the series begins at tonight’s midweek service, starting at 7 p.m. in the tabernacle.
WHC is the place to be for your entire family on Wednesday nights – Kid Harvest is available for newborns through 5th grade, and Royal Rangers and MPact Girls meet in B Wing beginning at 7 p.m. If you haven’t checked out these great programs for children in grades kindergarten through 12, I invite you to do so.
Next Harvest will have its end-of-school party at 7 p.m. in the MAC Café.
If you can’t join us in person, the service will be streamed live online from the tabernacle via World Harvest Live, starting at 7 p.m.
Friday, June 1 – It’s one of the most important days of the year for Harvest Preparatory School. It’s the last day of classes for students in grades 1-11, and those in grade 12 get a new title – graduates! Commencement exercises for the class of 2012 begin at 7 p.m. in the tabernacle. Even if you don’t have a student in the class, I invite you to join me in honoring these outstanding young men and women as they end an important chapter in their lives.
Saturday, June 2 – We have the privilege of hosting the Pickerington North and Pickerington Central graduations throughout the day. We rejoice with those of you who are impacted directly by those events. It’s a privilege to be able to share our facilities with the local community.
Sunday, June 3 – What I’ve called “Expectation Week” comes to a climax in our morning worship service. Deaf ears popped open and wheelchairs were discarded the last time we praised God together – imagine what he will do when a bunch of prayed-up believers gather in expectation!
That night, the first of three installments of “The Harv Worship Fest" kicks off at 7 p.m. in the tabernacle. God lives in the praises of His people, and I am anticipating incredible things from this time focused on who He is and what He has done for us!
Begin your day with pre-service prayer at 9 a.m. & 6 p.m. in the A-Wing Hospitality Room (former Breakthrough studio, north of the tabernacle).
If it’s absolutely impossible for you to join us for worship, log on to World Harvest Live to watch the services as they happen.
Tuesday, June 5 – The first of our two Celebrate Recovery classes begins at 7 p.m. Please be in prayer for this exciting new outreach of World Harvest Church. The Tuesday class is full, but we are still accepting registrations for the class that begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 7. To register, sign up at the Life Group table before or after a Sunday service, or click here to register electronically.
Wednesday, June 6 – I’ll be continuing the series “Repo: Seize Your Stuff” in the midweek service, which begins at 7 p.m. in the tabernacle. We’ll also be offering water baptism at this service – an outward recognition of an inward transformation. If you want to be baptized during this service, call the Pastoral Care office at (614) 837-1990, ext. 312.
Next Harvest, Royal Rangers and MPact Girls will meet as usual. If you’re can’t be here in person, log on to World Harvest Live to see it. There’s something here on Wednesday nights for the whole family!
And to stay connected:
- Renewal, a special service for “seasoned citizens” age 60 and above, has been rescheduled for July 29. Mother Parsley will be leading a service like they used to be, with hymns, testimony and more. If you would like to be part of the team planning the service, please call Megan Hassett at (614) 837-1990, ext. 311.
- We’re preparing two great events for your children next month: Youth Camp, June 10-14, and Vacation Bible School (VBS), June 17-20. VBS will be an evening event this year, featuring fun for children ages 3 through 5th grade from 7-9:30 p.m. nightly. Mark your calendars and plan now to join us!
- Are you keeping up with our commitment to read through the Bible in a year? There are four ways to get the day’s assigned readings:
- If you haven’t already done so, go here to sign up for my daily Prayer Directives email. Each email links to the day’s readings.
- Get a printed copy of the reading plan at a worship service, or download it here.
- Download the YouVersion mobile app for your smartphone, and subscribe to the One Year Bible reading plan.
- Go here to be linked to the day’s assignments.
- Be part of my prayer army! There are two ways to participate:
- If you haven’t already completed a prayer ministry sign-up card during a service, click here to complete an online version of the form. This will give us permission to send you my daily e-mail of prayer directives. If you’ve already completed a card but have yet to receive the e-mails, check your spam folder. We’ve had some reports of these e-mails getting caught in spam filters. Then, make sure to allow the e-mails in the future.
- You can also text “WHC” to 292929 to receive urgent, time-sensitive prayer requests on your wireless device. I’m very appreciative of your prayers last week, for example, when we texted from the road that we had mechanical issues with the buses for our tour. They were resolved and we made it to the church on time!
- Our emergency medical services (EMS) ministry is in need of qualified servants. If you are a registered nurse, nurse’s assistant, physician’s assistant, EMT or paramedic and can support any of our services, we need you! If you’re interested, stop by the EMS section near the south entrance to the tabernacle before the service or call the Pastoral Care office at (614) 837-1990, ext. 312. And, if you can donate a wheelchair to the ministry, call the Pastoral Care office. We’ll gladly put it to use!
- If you’re active with social media, be sure to follow this great local church on Facebook and Twitter. You can also become one of my followers on Twitter and join my Facebook fan page. You can also follow Joni on Twitter here.
- If you or a family member are hospitalized, please send us an e-mail with the details or call the Pastoral Care office at (614) 837-1990, ext. 312, so we can minister to you.
Joni and I appreciate all you do for this church, and thank you for being a part of it. Join us in learning, loving and living the Word in 2012!
Yours for the Harvest,
Pastor Rod Parsley
