A family thing

Friend

This past weekend was a memorable one for the Parsley family. Our daughter, Ashton, not only celebrated her birthday, but graduated from university! I am grateful that Joni and I were blessed to be her parents, and we are incredibly proud of the young woman of God she has become.
Of course, I’m grateful for the family we’re growing at WHC Columbus as well as at our Polaris, and I’m looking forward to this Sunday for an opportunity for both parts of our family to worship together in an outdoor setting.

At 7 p.m. this Sunday, May 15, we’ll have an outdoor service and barbecue on Jack Johnson field on our Columbus campus. Please dress casually and have everyone in your family assembled in the bleachers by 7 p.m. – we’ll have a time of praise & worship music and I’ll bring the Word of God. Then we’ll have food available for purchase, kids’ games and a great time of fellowship afterward. It will be a fun and worshipful time for the whole family! Please join the rest of your church family there.

Here are this week’s announcements – please save or print this e-mail and refer to it throughout the week.

Today, Wednesday, May 11 - You must join me tonight! God is doing incredible things in our midweek service! I am bringing a message I’ve called “The Real Rod Parsley and the Remnant.” If it’s absolutely impossible for you to join us in person, watch it online via World Harvest Live, starting at 7 p.m.

Thursday, May 12Front line auditions will be held from 2-8 p.m. in the Pastoral Care office. If you are called to lead our congregation in worship, please come with a track ready to share.

Saturday, May 14Valor Christian College holds its graduation ceremonies at 1 p.m. in the tabernacle. Graduation is primarily for our students and their families, but I know many of you have come to know and love our students and would like to honor them as our graduates receive their associate of applied science degrees. There will be a brief reception for you to congratulate the graduates in the MAC Café after the ceremony.

Sunday, May 15 – Worship the Lord with us at both 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. God is doing incredible things among us, and I don’t know why you’d consider missing a minute of it!
Then, join us on Jack Johnson Field campus for our outdoor worship service and barbecue! Please arrive and be seated in the bleachers no later than 7 p.m.

Next Wednesday, May 18 – Our midweek service starts at 7 p.m. Next Harvest Youth will hold its weekly meeting at 7 p.m. as well in the MAC Café.

And to stay connected:
  • Next Harvest Youth, plan now to go with us to Youth Camp June 12-16 at Michigan Christian Youth Camp in Attica, Mich. Cost is just $200 for five fun-filled days; a $50 deposit is due two weeks from today, May 25. Pastor Eric Petree of Towne Worship Center in Cincinnati will be preaching our evening services. For more information, e-mail or call Cameron Fontana at the church office.
  • Our emergency medical services (EMS) ministry is in need of qualified servants. If you are a registered nurse, nurse’s assistant, physician’s assistant, EMT or paramedic and can support any of our services, we need you! If you’re interested, stop by the EMS section near the south entrance to the tabernacle before the service or call the Pastoral Care office at (614) 837-1990, ext. 312.
  • Have you joined a Life Group yet? Click here to find a group near where you live or work, or call the Pastoral Care office at (614) 837-1990, ext. 312.
  • If you’re active with social media, please consider becoming one of my followers on Twitter and joining my Facebook fan page. You can also follow Joni on Twitter here.
  • If you or a family member are hospitalized, please send us an e-mail with the details or call the Pastoral Care office at (614) 837-1990, ext. 312, so we can minister to you. Recent changes in federal privacy laws prevent the hospitals from sharing this information with us.
This is a busy time of year. Many of us have family obligations like proms, weddings and graduations. Don’t forget your church family! I hope you’ll be able to join us Sunday night.

Joni and I appreciate all you do for this church, and thank you for being a part of it. See you soon!

Yours for the Harvest,

Rod Parsley
