DAY FIVE:
Thursday, April 2nd - The Cup of Covenant
Dear Friend,
Today is day five of Holy Week and of our
Season of Resurrection Miracles teaching series. Our Good Friday Holy Communion Service is TOMORROW and we’re a few days away from our Resurrection Sunday Service.
My spirit is already stirring with anticipation!
I believe the Lord has a message for you that will shake and resurrect your faith to believe Him for all He has promised you during this season!
Deuteronomy 16:16 declares that three times in a year, everyone is to appear before the Lord:
- The first commanded feast is happening right now, during this Passover and unleavened bread season of miracles! Last evening, as the sun set, a new day on the Hebrew calendar began, and our Jewish friends celebrated Passover – which also marked the beginning of the Feast of Unleavened Bread!
- The second is about 50 days from now at Pentecost.
- The final commanded feast celebration is in the fall, in the atonement season of Tabernacles.
Deuteronomy also declares, “
No one should appear before the Lord empty-handed.” That’s one of the reasons
this is the season our ministry family sows Resurrection Seed offerings, in honor the Lord and all He has done.
In the original Passover, in Egypt, the blood of the Passover lamb redeemed the family on whose doorposts and lentils it was painted. On Passover through Christ, by His Blood, the Lord Jesus Christ redeems all who place their faith in Him.
In Exodus 6:6-7, God makes 4 distinct promises:
“Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched-out arm and with great judgments. And I will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you a God. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”
In the Jewish tradition of Passover Seder, there are 4 cups of wine that each represent one of the 4 promises in Exodus 6.
- The Cup of Consecration: “I will bring you out”
- The Cup of Deliverance: “I will deliver you”
- The Cup of Redemption: “I will redeem you”
- The Cup of Praise: “I will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you a God”
We are told in the gospel of Luke that Jesus reclined in an upper room with His disciples celebrating Passover. He took the third cup of the meal in His hand and said, “
This cup is the new covenant in my blood which is shed for you” (Luke 22:20).
That third cup, the Cup of Redemption, represented the new covenant, which was about to be sealed with His precious blood.
Jesus is the Passover, the Eternal Lamb of God! His blood is the once-and-for-all sacrifice that makes all other sacrifices obsolete! His blood redeems, cleanses, restores, makes new, and separates sin far away from you like the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12)! And He invites each one of us to drink this Cup of Redemption and be liberated by the living God!
“Do this in remembrance of me.” - Luke 22:19
When Jesus wanted His people to remember Him and what He was about to do, He did not request a special service or dictate a book. Instead, He commanded a meal and a cup that would be shared by His people together.
And it’s
that Passover meal and the Lord of Passover that we have in memory every time we receive Holy Communion, allowing the power of the Lamb of God, our risen King – the Lord Jesus Christ – to cover us and our loved ones by faith.
Tomorrow is Good Friday, and we’ll be receiving Holy Communion and sowing in faith and obedience during our Good Friday Holy Communion service at 7pm ET.
If you are near World Harvest Church in Columbus, Ohio, we hope to see you in-person at 7pm ET. If you can’t be with us physically, be sure to join us online on
YouTube Live,
Facebook Live, or
RODPARSLEY.TV! The Lord Jesus asked us to share communion together in remembrance of Him. I hope you’ll join us tomorrow to remember, to honor, and to worship Him!
And be sure to send me any prayer needs you may have and sow your Resurrection Seed offering. I want to make sure they’re here before the service begins tomorrow night.
Yours for the harvest,
Pastor Rod Parsley
